Happy New Year! I don’t know about you but I indulged a little too much over the holidays with all the pie, cookies, bread, cheese, crackers, dips, wine, etc… So, I decided to do a reset and commit to the Whole30 program in January. That’s why I decided to share this egg roll in a bowl recipe.
I get a lot of cabbage, carrots and kohlrabi in my CSA (community supported agriculture) at the farmer’s market so I make this recipe often. It’s so easy and one of my favorite meals to make all year long AND the best part is, it’s Whole30 compliant!
I rarely see kohlrabi in my grocery stores so if you can’t find it, just omit it from the recipe. But if you can find it at your grocery store or even better at your farmer’s market, grab it! Kohlrabi is so versatile. You can shred it and make kohlrabi slaw for tacos. You can cube it and roast it in the oven like potatoes. It’s delicious and something I recommend trying if you haven’t yet.
I you haven’t ever made Egg Roll in a Bowl, I highly recommend it!

- 2 T rice wine vinegar
- ¼ cup coconut aminos
- 1 tsp fish sauce

Instructions
-
Brown the ground pork in a medium non-stick pan. This one is my favorite.

While the pork is cooking, chop the cabbage and shred the carrots, kohlrabi and ginger. I used my food processor but you can shred them by hand.

Remove the pork from the pan and set aside. Cook the cabbage, carrots, kohlrabi and ginger until tender.
-
Add pork to veggies and mix well. Cook on med/high until the liquids have evaporated. Stir often.
-
Serve the pork and veggies and top with mayo mixture, green onions and chopped cashews.
This recipe sounds amazing. But since I am new to this Whole30, which I am going to have to google after this, what is fish sauce and coconut aminos and where do you get them. Guess I could google that too, but if I am asking, surely someone may be wondering?
Love ya girl, and love the blog! Congratulations!
Hi Ronnie! I get those things from Thrive Market. It’s an online retailer that offers high quality ingredients for a lot less cost. I did a blog post about Thrive Market. You can read about it by clicking here. You can get them at the regular grocery store though on the Asian aisle. These ingredients aren’t just for Whole30. I use them almost on a daily basis. Let me know if you have questions. I’m here to help!
I am definitely going to try this. I live within walking distance of a very large Asian market place. It is a confusing place for me… having a specific shopping list for a good recipe helps! My kids (7 of them) really enjoy helping me fix new dishes…it decreases the picky eater syndrome when they’ve helped cook it! Thanks for this.
You just made my day! I hope you and your family really enjoy this recipe.
I can’t wait to try this! I am not doing Whole30, but I have recently gone dairy-free and I’m having a hard time finding dishes that are inspiring. This looks delicious 🙂
Enjoy!
This recipe looks amazing! We love oriental food, but looking over my shoulder my husband saw the link for the eggnog 🙁 NOT on our diet! Geez…….lol!
The eggnog is definitely a once a year splurge! Enjoy the egg roll in a bowl!
This looks so delicious! I love that this is Whole30 compliant.
Thank you!
Sounds delicious. Can you make it without the coconut aminos and what could you substitute?
You can definitely make it without the coconut aminos. Just substitute soy sauce or tamari. Use about half of what I suggested of the aminos but soy sauce is a lot saltier!
